Students from Boston English High present Gymcraftics Creations to an area Junior High

"It is challenging for me and I also like it because it is fun because you get to work with different people and make up new things. And every time I go, I learn something new all the time. I would say to someone who has never seen it, "You're really going to enjoy this. In gymcraftics we work together and make sure we get along with each other."  AA - MS 7th

"Each participant is valued and has an equal opportunity to reveal her or his perspective through discussion circles (a critical component of Gymcraftics). Comfort develops through voluntarily presenting ideas to others."  SR - College Sr

“It’s something that inspires you to bond and outreach with others. Gymcraftics has exposed my thinking to a higher level which I need, in order to strive and be successful. It has definitely been an eye opener. To me Gymcraftics is a completely new way of learning."  AC - HS Sophomore

"Gymcraftics is a place where you can embrace others and connect in a way you can't imagine."

During the Second Semester of her senior year, in 2002, Laura organized and carried out practices for a group of students at her school who were members of the track team. Her purpose was to introduce pole vaulting and related activities.  The culmination of 10 weekly sessions was a presentation to department chairs, the Senior Project Committee, parents and students. Her work extended to the Watson House Gymcraftics Project in Cambridge, Mass. Students from this program and other Air Time staff and athletes participated in the Project Presentation at the end of the semester at Hopkinton High.

In March of 2011 Laura visited her sister in Malawi, Africa for a two week stay. "I traveled by bus to a rural village for two days, where I stayed with a Peace Corps volunteer. She was an educator in this particular village and helped me connect with a Community Day Secondary School.  She suggested I work with the girls at the school because they had less opportunities than the boys. We met in a small room with a concrete floor. We started in a circle and most of the girls spoke little English, but understood the nonverbal gestures of gymcraftics. It didn’t take long for wide smiles to flash across their faces as they tried various gymcraftics exercises. They tried a large variety of moves with fearless execution. After our classes I headed back to the village through a grassy path. The girls were outside in the school yard doing some of the gymcraftics moves. They saw me, waved and smiled, then went back to their balancing."
